The secondary levels at Panyathip International School (P.I.S) are from Year 7 to Year 12. The curriculum is designed to follow a course of study which provides a broad and balanced range of learning experiences. The Years 7 and 8 provide a strong foundation in English and Academic skills necessary to succeed in the IGCSE curriculum.

In Years 9 – 11, students begin to study Cambridge’s curriculum. The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is a 2+ year curriculum that follows detailed benchmarks that enable teachers and students to equally prepare for comprehensive exams identical to high school students from thousands of international and private schools around the globe. Panyathip International School currently offers students the opportunity to study for international exams in the following subjects: English as a second language, Maths, Combined Science, I.C.T, Chinese as a foreign language, Environmental Management and Business Studies. P.I.S also offer non-testing academic courses in Sports, Art, History.

Lastly, Year 12 uses CIE (AS level) curriculum and materials to provide a foundation for entering into university or college. Academic classes are taught during this time, along with study and career counseling in preparation for exiting High School.


Cambridge IGCSE
The Cambridge IGCSE encourages learner-centred and enquiry-based approaches to learning. It develops learners’ skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving, giving learners excellent preparation for the next stage in their education. Schools can build a core curriculum, extend it to suit their learners and introduce cross-curricular perspectives. Clearly defined learning outcomes and content, mean Cambridge IGCSE is compatible with other curricula and is internationally relevant and sensitive to different needs and cultures.

Schools can offer any combination of subjects. Each subject is certificated separately. Over 70 subjects are available, including more than 30 language courses, offering a variety of routes for learners of different abilities. Cambridge IGCSE develops learner knowledge, understanding and skills in:

Cambridge IGCSE is recognised as a reliable record of attainment by universities and employers around the world. Many universities worldwide require a combination of A Levels and IGCSEs to meet their entry requirements. In the UK, Cambridge IGCSE is accepted as equivalent to the GCSE.

Cambridge ICE
Students can elect to sit seven subjects in certain categories to the eligible for an additional award, the International Certificate in Education (ICE). This shows universities the breath of a student studying and reflects academic excellence.

Cambridge International A or AS Level
A Cambridge International A or AS Level is recognised around the world by schools, universities and employers. The qualifications are accepted as proof of academic ability for entry to universities worldwide.

Cambridge International A Levels typically take two years to complete and offer a flexible course of study that gives students the freedom to select subjects that are right for them. Cambridge International AS Levels often represent the first half of an A Level course but may also be taken as a separate qualification.

AS levels are accepted in all UK universities and carry half the weighting of an A Level. University course credits are often available for Cambridge International A/AS Levels in countries such as the USA and Canada. This means the university may give you credit towards some of your degree based on your A/AS level qualifications.

Good grades in carefully chosen Cambridge International AS and A level subjects can result in up to one full year of credit.

Lao Programme
P.I.S Lao Secondary Programme meets all requirements of the Lao Ministry of Education (MOE). Secondary students study Lao curriculums approved by the MOE to become eligible for a Lao MOE high school diploma as well as eligibility to study at Lao Universities and other colleges in Vientiane.
